COCKROACH CONTROL IN YOUR HOMES
Fossil evidence shows that Cockroaches have been on earth for over 300 million years. Because of their adaptability they are one of the most successful groups in the animal kingdom along with mice and rats. The German Cockroach (Blattella germanica) is the most common roach in eastern Ontario, and it is the species we are typically requested to service.
The average life cycle (egg to adult) takes about 60 - 90 days. There are 3 stages of the life cycle Egg - Nymph - Adult. Females can produce up to 8 egg cases in their life span. A mature female produces an egg case every 3 - 4 weeks and each egg case contains 40 eggs. It takes approximately 1 month for eggs to hatch and 6 - 8 weeks to become an adult. German roaches reside mainly in kitchen and washroom areas; these areas provide harbourage, food, moisture, and warmth. German roaches are omnivorous, they eat what we eat. They typically enter a home or business via boxes, grocery bags, used appliances, suitcases...sometimes you get a little more than you bargained for when acquiring used furniture, kitchen appliances, microwaves, etc.
